AdaptableGIMP Basics

The most important new feature in AdaptableGIMP is its interface customizations. We call these customizations task sets.

Each task set customizes AdaptableGIMP for a specific task. You install task sets in the application, but can also view them here on this wiki. For example, there is a task set to Change Eye Color.

Using Task Sets

Task sets are easy to install and use:

  1. Type keywords describing the task you want to perform into the search box in AdaptableGIMP (step 1 below)
  2. Choose a task set (step 2 below)
  3. The toolbox is customized to your task (step 3 below)
  4. For more information on how to use the task set, click the info button to bring up wiki documentation

Creating Task Sets

You create a task set in much the same way you customize toolbars and menus in other applications.

What is unique about AdaptableGIMP is that all task sets are automatically shared with the entire user base: Once you create a task set, it is uploaded to the wiki for all to use. This allows the community to collectively learn from each other.

For more information, see How to Create a Task Set.

Learn New Skills

GIMP is a powerful program that can be used in lots and lots of different ways. One of the nice features of automatically sharing task sets is that it allows you to more easily discover these different ways it can be used.

The wiki provides tools to allow you to learn how others use the software. Visit Browse Task Sets to browse the different task sets developed for AdaptableGIMP. Or contribute your own!
